220 Rockstar Employees Sign Joint Letter Demanding Fired Staff Be Reinstated

Rockstar Games is currently facing significant internal and external backlash following the termination of 31 Grand Theft Auto 6 developers, citing “gross misconduct.” In response, 220 staff members at Rockstar North have signed a joint letter demanding the immediate reinstatement of their former colleagues. The situation has attracted criticism not only from the dismissed employees but also from government organizations in the United Kingdom.

The controversy began on October 31, when Rockstar dismissed dozens of GTA 6 developers. Although the company initially withheld the reason for the terminations, it later emerged that all affected individuals were involved in union activities or discussions, prompting allegations of union busting. Rockstar maintains that the dismissals were lawful, but the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) has questioned the legality of the move.

While potential litigation looms, the staff at Rockstar North have publicly supported their former teammates, intensifying scrutiny on Rockstar’s actions. Industry observers suggest that the ongoing dispute, especially in light of recent delays to GTA 6, could further disrupt the game’s development if the conflict escalates. At present, there is no definitive legal ruling on the matter, and it is uncertain whether the dispute will lead to court proceedings or be resolved through negotiation.
